The International Coach Federation is the leading and pioneering body that sets and governs the professional standards of Coaching worldwide. They have, over the last few decades, outlined 11 Core Competencies that every Coach, or practitioner, needs to be able to demonstrate.
Familiarizing yourself with these competencies will give you an idea of the skill sets that will lead to successful coaching. It is applicable to you regardless of whether you are a professional Coach with your own business, or a manager, leader, or parent who wields the power of Coaching in the way you interact with others.

Lin Tan is an Executive Coach and a Mentor Coach with 13 years experience. She is 1 of 6 Master Certified Coaches (ICF) in Singapore bringing over 3,000 hours of coaching experience across 1,500 individuals into her work. A registered mentor coach with the ICF, Lin has trained hundreds of individuals in coaching skill sets, in areas of communication, motivation, leadership and team performance since 2005. She has personally mentored more than 25 coaches in attaining their international coach credentials. With over 10 years of designing coach training curriculum and training coach faculties, she now heads Collective Change Institute, a boutique school offering the ACSTH-credentialed (ICF) coach-training course.
